Installation

It is the responsibility of the OEM, system integrator, or end user to install the PLC equipment for safe and reliable operation. Product manuals provide detailed information about installation, startup, and proper use of the PLC equipment. The installation manual, shipped with your PLC programming software, describes how to install the equipment. If the PLC installation must comply with supported standards, such as FCC or CE Directives, please refer to the Installation Requirements for Conformance to Standards, shipped with the PLC programming software, for additional guidelines.
Before powering the system, connect the backup battery to one of the two available battery connectors on the module. This battery provides power to retain user memory, such as programs and configuration data, during power outages or when the system is turned off. Ensure the connection is secure and that the battery is properly seated to avoid memory loss.
The toggle switch on the module controls the operating state of the CPU. By placing it in the STOP position, you prevent the processor from executing any programs during installation. This ensures that the system remains inactive, avoiding unexpected behavior or damage during the hardware setup.
The key switch controls memory write protection. By switching it to the OFF position, you allow changes to be made to the CPU's memory, including downloading programs or modifying configuration settings. This is necessary when initializing the module or updating application logic. Once setup is complete, you can switch it back ON to protect the memory from unintended changes.
For safety and to prevent electrical damage, make sure that the rack is completely powered down before installing the module. This eliminates the risk of short circuits, component damage, or personal injury during hardware installation.
Once the module is securely installed and all the previous steps are completed, restore power to the rack. The CPU will begin its initialization process. You can then proceed with configuration or program download using your programming device.
