Foxboro Termination Assembly Modules

Foxboro DCS Field Wiring Selection

Match the Foxboro Termination Assembly to the Correct FBM and Field Wiring

A Fieldbus Module part number and a Termination Assembly part number are not the same item. Confirm the exact FBM, TA, signal type, terminal style and termination cable before ordering or planning a replacement.

FBM Identity
Module number and revision
TA Part Number
Exact P/RH termination code
Signal and Channels
Analog, discrete, HART or bus
Terminal Style
Compression or ring lug
TA Cable
Type, connector, material and length
Installation Rating
Environment and certification

For a Faster RFQ

Send separate label photos for the FBM, Termination Assembly and TA cable. Include the field signal, channel count, terminal preference, quantity, condition, destination and required date.

Do not match by a shared P091x or P092x prefix. The FBM, TA and cable each have their own part number and function. Compatibility must be checked as a complete signal path.

Buyer’s Technical Guide

Foxboro Termination Assembly and FBM Compatibility Guide

Foxboro 200 Series field signals connect through a DIN-rail-mounted Termination Assembly (TA) and a removable TA cable to the baseplate-mounted Fieldbus Module (FBM). The exact TA depends on the FBM, signal type, channel arrangement, terminal style, material, cable and installation certification.

Six Checks Before Ordering

01 — FBM MATCH

Exact module family

Confirm the complete FBM model and hardware part number. Similar channel counts do not prove TA compatibility.

02 — SIGNAL

Type and channel arrangement

Identify analog, discrete, HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, PROFIBUS, Modbus or serial communication and the required channel layout.

03 — TERMINALS

Compression or ring lug

Terminal styles can use different TA part numbers even when they serve the same FBM and signal family.

04 — CABLE

Cable type, material and length

Match the specified connectors, cable type and length. Many 200 Series TA cables are available up to 30 m, but the limit is model-specific.

05 — MATERIAL

PVC, polyamide and environment

Check the TA construction, operating-temperature range and whether polyurethane or low-smoke zero-halogen cable is required.

06 — APPROVAL

Area classification and entity limits

Ordinary-location, Division 2 and Zone 2 applications may require different TA certification and field-circuit constraints.

Manufacturer Compatibility Examples

FBM223 P0917HD

P0917HD identifies the FBM223 PROFIBUS-DP module. The associated passive Termination Assembly is P0917SY; these are separate parts.

FBM222 redundant PROFIBUS

Active TAs include P0926TH and RH926TJ. Manufacturer documentation also describes an upgrade path using an existing FBM223 passive TA P0917SY, subject to network-length and configuration review.

FBM220 / FBM221 FOUNDATION Fieldbus

Manufacturer certification tables list P0917RF and P0917RG TAs for these H1 interfaces.

FBM224 / FBM230 communication interfaces

P0926GH and P0926PA appear in manufacturer tables for Modbus and field-device serial interface applications. Confirm the exact port type and system design.

These examples explain the matching method; they are not a substitute for the current Product Specification Sheet for the exact FBM and TA.

Replacement and Upgrade Notice

  • Do not replace a TA by matching only the number of terminals or its physical dimensions.
  • Confirm whether the existing FBM is simplex or redundant and whether the TA is active, passive or used with third-party termination.
  • Reusing existing field wiring may be possible only when the TA, cable and new FBM combination is explicitly supported.
  • For an FBM223-to-FBM222 change, review the approved upgrade procedure, cable-length calculation and PROFIBUS configuration before purchase.
  • Product lifecycle status and successor requirements should be checked against the current Schneider Electric phase listing and exact PSS.

Foxboro Termination Assembly FAQ

1. What is the difference between an FBM and a Termination Assembly?

The FBM performs input, output or communication processing. The TA provides the field-wiring interface and connects to the FBM through a specified termination cable.

2. Are compression and ring-lug TAs interchangeable?

They may support the same functional signal family, but they use different terminal hardware and often different part numbers. Match the site wiring standard and exact manufacturer table.

3. Can an existing TA and field wiring be reused with a replacement FBM?

Only when the manufacturer documentation explicitly supports that FBM, TA and cable combination. Redundancy, firmware, network calculation and certification may also need review.

4. What TA cable length should be ordered?

Measure the cabinet routing and check the approved cable table for the exact TA. Many 200 Series assemblies offer cable lengths up to 30 m, but connector type, material and network rules vary.

5. What information is required for a replacement quotation?

Provide clear labels for the FBM, TA and cable, plus the signal type, terminal style, channel count, cabinet photos, quantity, required condition and destination.

Need a Foxboro TA or FBM Compatibility Check?

Send all three labels—FBM, Termination Assembly and cable—and ask for current availability, lead time, testing information and warranty terms.
