Triconex Peer-to-Peer protocol is designed to allow multiple Tricon and Trident controllers in aclosed network to exchange safety-critical data. (If you plan to implement a complex Peer-toPeer network, please contact the IPS Global Client Support (GCS) center.)To enable Peer-to-Peer communication, you must connect each controller to an Ethernetnetwork by using a NET 1 (Ethernet) port on the NCM or TCM models 4353 and 4354, or a NET1 or NET 2 port on TCM models 4351A, 4351B, 4352A, or 4352B. The controllers exchange databy using Send and Receive function blocks in their TriStation applications.

To configure a TriStation application for Peer-to-Peer communication, you must:

• Configure the physical port connection for Peer-to-Peer mode
• Allocate memory for Send and Receive function blocks
• Add Send and Receive function blocks to the TriStation application
• Observe restrictions on data transmission speed

In addition, Triconex recommends that you calculate the data transfer time to determinewhether the control algorithms will operate correctly.

A TriStation application must use a specific Send function block to send data to a matchingReceive function block in another TriStation application. Each Send function block has aparameter that identifies the Receive function block to which it sends data. Each Receivefunction block has a parameter that identifies the Send function block from which it receivesdata.
