Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1769-IR6 input module is a compact RTD/resistance input module. There are 6 RTD inputs on this module. The input range can be configured for 0 to 150 Ohms, 0 to 500 Ohms, 0 to 1000 Ohms, and 0 to 3000 Ohms. The input resolution is dependent on the input filter and on the module configuration. The current draw of the 1769-IR6 input module is 1000 milliamps at 5.1 Volts DC and 35 milliamps at 24 Volts DC. The heat dissipated by the 1769-IR6 input module can go up to 1.5 Watts. The converter type is sigma delta conversion. The common mode voltage range is +/-10 Volts DC. The maximum cable impedance supported by the module is 25 Ohms. The input impedance is greater than 10 Megaohms.

product details

The Allen-Bradley 1769-IR6 is a CompactLogix analog RTD/resistance input module that has Six (6) RTD input channels available. The input ranges of this module are 0 to150 Ohms, 0 to 500 Ohms, 0 to 1000 Ohms, and 0 to 3000 Ohms and it has a maximum common mode voltage range of +/- 10 Volts DC. The 1769-IR6 module has 1.5 Watts of power dissipation and it draws currents of 100 mA at 5.1 Volts and of 45 mA at 24 Volts. It also has an isolation voltage of 720 Volts DC for 1 minute from channel to bus, optical and magnetic (qualification), as well as a working voltage of 30 Volts AC/30 Volts DC. Its open circuit detection time ranges from 6 milliseconds to 303 seconds and it has impedances of 25 Ohms for the cable and of more than 10 megaohms for the input. The Allen-Bradley 1769-IR6 module has a built-in status LED available and it can be mounted using a DIN rail or panel. When using a panel, the 1769-IR6 module has an operating shock of 30 G, a relay operating shock of 7.5 G, and a non-operating shock of 40 G. A DIN-rail mounted module has an operating shock of 20 G, a relay operating shock of 5 G, and a non-operating shock of 30 G. It also has an operating vibration of 5 G at 10 to100 Hertz and its non-condensing relative humidity range is 5 to 95%. This module has a removable terminal block (RTB) interface and an open-type enclosure. The entire 1769-IR6 module measures approximately 1.38 x 3.43 x 4.65 inches. The 1769-IR6 module supports an RTD and direct resistance signal measurement applications. This module digitally converts analog data and it stores the converted data. Each of the 6 supported channels provides open-circuit and short-circuit as well as over- and under-range detection and indication.
The Allen-Bradley 1769-IR6 is an analog input module which belong to the Compact I/O product family. This module is specifically used for Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD) and Resistance signals. This module may be used with MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix controllers. This module also supports installation on distributed IO rack, provided that the communication adapters used are 1769-ADN DeviceNet and 1769-AENTR Ethernet adapter.
System Operation
At powerup, the module performs a check of its internal circuits, memory, and basic functions. During this time, the module status indicator remains off. Ifno faults are found during power-up diagnostics, the module status indicator isturned on.After power-up checks are complete, the module waits for valid channelconfiguration data. If an invalid configuration is detected, the module generates a configuration error. Once a channel is properly configured and enabled, the module continuously converts the RTD or resistance input to avalue within the range selected for that channel. Each time the module reads an input channel, it tests the data for a fault (overor under-range, short-circuit, or open-circuit condition). If it detects a fault, the module sets a unique bit in the channel status word. See Input Data File onpage 47.Using the module image table, the controller reads the two's compliment binary converted input data from the module. This typically occurs at the endof the program scan or when commanded by the control program. If thecontroller and the module determine that the data transfer has been madewithout error, the data is used in the control program.
