The HART Communication Output Interface Module(FBM215) contains eight channel-isolated outputchannels. The FBM215 supports any mix of standard4 to 20 mA devices and HART devices.The FBM215 serves as a HART communications fielddevice host, enabling the I/A Series system torequest and receive two digital messages per secondfrom each field device. The message pass-throughcapability can be used to support HART universal,common practice, and device-specific commands,but not the burst communication mode. Thesecommands are implemented using the IntelligentField Device Configurator.

COMPACT DESIGN
The FBM215 has a compact design, with a ruggedextruded aluminum exterior for physical protection ofthe circuits. Enclosures specially designed formounting the FBMs provide various levels ofenvironmental protection, up to harsh environmentsper ISA Standard S71.04.
VISUAL INDICATORS
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) incorporated into thefront of the module provide visual indication of themodule's operational status, and communicationactivity of the channels.
EASY REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT
The module can be removed/replaced withoutremoving field device termination cabling, power, orcommunications cabling.
FIELDBUS COMMUNICATION
A Fieldbus Communication Module or a ControlProcessor interfaces the redundant 2 Mbps moduleFieldbus used by the FBMs. The FBM215 moduleaccepts communication from either path (A or B) ofthe redundant 2 Mbps fieldbus – should one path failor be switched at the system level, the modulecontinues communication over the active path.
MODULAR BASEPLATE MOUNTING
The module mounts on a modular baseplate, whichaccommodates up to four or eight FBMs. Themodular baseplate is either DIN rail mounted or rackmounted, and includes signal connectors forredundant fieldbus, redundant independent dcpower, and termination cables.
