The PROFIBUS-DP communication board (PROFIBUS optional board) is to provide a PROFIBUSDP-based link between drives of the MICROMASTER 4 product range and higher-level automation systems.

To display information about the current operating state, the communication board has a 3-color LED (green, orange, red). The communication board voltage is supplied via the inverter system connector. Alternatively, an external 24 V connection can supply the voltage for the PROFIBUS optional board and inverter electronics. The board is connected to the PROFIBUS system via bus connector complying with the PROFIBUS standard. All connections to this RS485 interface are short-circuit-proof and isolated. The PROFIBUS optional board supports baud rates of 9.6 kbaud to 12 MBaud. Fiber optics can be connected using Optical Link Plugs (OLPs) or Optical Link Modules (OLMs).

➫ Installation Preparation: Ensure the MM440 inverter is powered off. Prepare suitable tools (such as a screwdriver) and inspect the module for damage and ensure the DIP switches are in their default positions.
➫ Module Installation: Align the module with the slot on the MM440 inverter control unit and gently push it in along the guide rails until you hear a click. This ensures proper contact between the module and the inverter.
➫ Address Setting: Set the station address (S1-S5, corresponding to address bits 0-99) using the DIP switches on the module according to the Profibus network plan. After setting, restart the inverter for the address to take effect.
➫ Communication Wiring: Use a shielded twisted-pair cable to connect the module's 9-pin Sub-D connector to the Profibus-DP network, connecting pins 1 (shield), 2 (Data-), and 3 (Data+). Ensure the cables are secure and the shield is reliably grounded.
➫ Power Supply and Testing: Power on the inverter and observe the module's LED indicators (the Power light is on for normal power supply, and the Communication light is flashing for normal communication). Test data communication using a PLC or debugging software.
