This broad support enables the module to function as a datacollection submaster, or to be a powerful slave as a remote off an HMI host.Applications for the module are found in most industries, especiallyManufacturing, Oil and Gas, Electrical Power and Food Processing.The MVI56-ADMNET module is a single-slot, backplane compatible solutionfor the ControlLogix platform. It supports two fully isolated serial ports andone Ethernet port, allowing the many field devices to be integrated into theControlLogix platform with custom user-written 'C' code and various APIssupplied for Ethernet, serial and backplane communication.

The Prosoft Technology MVI56-ADMNET C programmable application development module is a control network PC interface used with ControlLogix processors from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The MVI56 module is sub-branded by inRAx® and it uses the 10/100 Base-T Ethernet as the communication protocol. The MVI56-ADMNET application development communication module with Ethernet serves as a ControlLogix backplane compatible module which enables interfacing between ControlLogix processors and compatible devices that use Ethernet protocol and also hosts that are using "C" as the programming language. This kind of module is mostly used as a programming platform if there is a need for custom applications for different operations that are not supported by the default setting. Besides programmable logic controllers, there are several Rockwell Automation devices that support the protocol so, for example, the MVI56-ADMNET module can be also used with host HMI systems.

The MVI56 module includes interfaces such as a port for debugging/configuration, 2 application ports (PRT1/PRT2), an Ethernet port, and a CFG port. The module uses RH45 to DB-9 M and 6 feet RS-232 connection cables and it is compatible with 1756 backplane (single slot). The package includes cables for each port and a configuration cable. In regard to power supply, the module's backplane current load is 800 milliAmps at 5.1 Volts DC, and 3 milliAmps at 24 Volts DC. The MVI56-ADMNET C programmable application development module has an integrated LED indicators for module status, backplane transfer status, serial activity, and application status. This module is manufactured in accordance with all of the relevant standards such as the CE, GOST-R, CB safety, Ex certificate (ATEX directive), Korean KC registration, the C/UL class 1, and many more. The module operates at a temperature range from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and it can be stored at a temperature range from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit). In addition to that, other environmental conditions for the MVI56-ADMNET module include a relative humidity of 5 to 95% (non-condensing) and a solid resistance to shock/vibration.

The MVI56-ADM API Suite allows software developers access to the top layer of theControlLogix backplane and serial ports. The MVI56-ADMNET API suite accesses theEthernet port.Both APIs can be easily used without having detailed knowledge of the module'shardware design. The MVI56-ADMNET API Suite consists of the Ethernet Port API. TheEthernet Port API provides access to the Ethernet network. Applications for the MVI56-ADMNET module may be developed using industry-standard DOS programming toolsand the appropriate API components.The MVI56-ADMNET module has three serial ports, two of which are isolated for fieldinterfaces, and one Ethernet port.

PRT1 and PRT2 are jumper configured for direct or multi-drop field communication. Theapplication program can be written to control the two application ports independently,allowing maximum flexibility in the design.
