The MVI69 EtherNet/IP (DF1 for Ethernet) Client/Server Communication Module is a CompactLogix / MicroLogix 1500 LRP backplane compatible module that allows CompactLogix / MicroLogix processors to interface easily with EtherNet/IP protocol (Explicit Messaging) compatible devices and hosts. Devices commonly supporting the protocol include PLCs, PACs, and host HMI systems.

The module can send read or write commands to remote devices on the EtherNet/IP network. The module also has 20 servers that allow the module to receive commands from remote devices. Up to 100 commands can be configured by the user. The Module provides support for an Ethernet port to be used in applications requiring a separate or dedicated network.

The MVI69-DFNT is an INRAX Ethernet/IP client/server interface module. The module uses onboard Ethernet/IP ports which have minimum and maximum communication speeds of 10 and 100 megabytes per second, respectively. For optimum performance, the MVI69-DFNT should be operated within its rated temperature of 0 degrees Celsius (minimum) and 60 degrees Celsius (maximum). The MVI69-DFNT is a standard 1769 single-slot module and it features only 2 ports; 1 configuration port (upper) and 1 application port (upper). The application port has link and activity LED indicators and an electrical isolation of 1500 Volts RMS at a frequency range of 50 to 60 degrees Celsius for a period of 60 seconds. The MVI69-DFNT client/server interface module contains CE, CSA, CSA CB, cULus, and ATEX certifications and approvals.

When the MVI69-DFNT is used as a server, it allows connected, unconnected, and Ethernet/IP explicit class messaging. Additionally, it allows data to be sourced from other clients on the network. When used as a client-server, the MVI69-DFNT supports ladder logic command control and it accepts 100 commands (user-defined) from a single client. The MVI69-DFNT is compatible with MicroLogix and CompactLogix controllers apart from the 1769-L23E-QBFC1B, 1769-L18x, and 1769-L16x controllers. Additionally, the MVI69-DFNT has a high data throughput, it offers an in-chassis solution and it allows SCADA or other remote devices to access data on the interface module. Note that the MVI69-DFNT has a power supply distance capped at 2.
